The most awaiting product of Apple, iPhone 5 is reportedly developing a scanning application which allows its customers to turn snaps into real documents which they can edit, complete with a function to separate text from imagery.

In addition to achieving crystal clear images, the iPhone 5 would also come with necessary software to break down the images into what each element represents, for instance, if you snap a business card, iOS would be able to translate that into real card that goes into your address book.

The app will work as follows :

1. “The user opens the app and holds the iPhone over the document or object they want scanned. They then snap a picture of it. Apple’s on-board software then resizes the image to ‘letter’ or business card, A4 or whatever depending on original document. Resizing includes aligning edges that get skewed by a sigle scan point rather than traditional scanning methods. The user can then manually change the size of the document or the use (biz card?)”

2. “On board software then separates images blocks from text.”

3. “This is where it gets murky. At last word, Apple was trying to do OCR both on-device and using alternative cloud methods for recognizing text. Third party Optical Character Recognition (OCR) vs. in house solutions were also being tested.”

4. “The resulting file can then be saved as a PDF, .Pages, exported to contacts (in the case of business cards for example).”

The app would tie in with Apple’s own iWork suite for scanning documents into pages and the company has filed a number of patents related to scanning as well, so this type of app could very well be real and in work.

Apple’s new software updates iOS 4.3.5/4.2.10 are now available for the users of GSM and CDMA iPhones and iPads as well as iTouch devices.

The iOS 4.3.5 software update targets iPhone 4 (GSM), iPhone 3GS, iPad2, and iPod touch of both 3rd and 4th generation.

iOS 4.2.10 is solely for the users of iPhone 4 CDMA devices.

This iOS update is intended to fix the security vulnerability with certificate validation.

Earlier this month, Apple released iOS 4.3.4 with the purpose of fixing a flaw that allowed hackers to build a tool that would jailbreak the devices.

Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, the latest OS from Apple is available for free of cost – Apple says.

Apple declared that ” customers who purchase a qualifying new  Mac computer or an Apple Certified Refurbished computer from Apple online store between June 6, 2011 and July 20, 2011 that does not include Mac OS X Lion can upgrade to OS X Lion for free”.

Even those who purchase qualifying Mac on or after July 21, 2011 can apply for a free upgrade to OS X Lion.

Customers should be well aware that their completed orders for upgrade must be done within 30 days of their purchase of a qualifying computer.

Apple have released their firmware update patch to its present iOS 4.3.3 version  to 4.3.4 stating that this update will fix the latest PDF exploit.

According to the German government’s IT security experts, a vulnerability found in iOS 4.3.3 that exploits the way the system handles PDF documents can allow for malicious software to be installed onto the device without the user’s knowledge. Once successfully deployed, the malicious code can theoretically grant the attacker with root access to the system allowing them to read your messages, browse your contacts list, tinker with your camera, and pretty much do whatever they please with the device.

Also, JailbreakMe 3.0 was used by users to Jailbreak any Apple’s iDevice’s including latest iPad 2 which made Apple developers to put on a thinking hat and work on how to overcome this, resulting in their latest firmware release iOS 4.3.4.

Unfortunately iOS 4.3.4 is jailbroken within 12 hours of their official release.

Yet another attempt made by Apple went in vain and now everyone can jailbreak any of their iDevice on their own.

iPhone 5, the most awaited product is expected to be launched in September 2011. The Wall Street Journal reported that the latest version of Apple’s iPhone 5 is lighter and thinner than the present version iPhone 4 but is expected to remain with same design.

The report says that the next iPhone include new models of wireless base-band chip developed by Qualcomm replacing the iPhone’s chips which were provided by Infineon, rumors say that Apple will be moving to world phone chipset enabling use on both GSM and CDMA networks across the globe.

Apple has not yet confirmed what will be the next iPhone called but people are expecting it to be called as iPhone 5 or iPhone 4GS.

Apple has been placing huge orders with its new version and is expected to hit the sales of 25 million units by this year end.  Pegatron, a Taiwanese component manufacturer will supply 15 million of Apple iPhone 5.

Apple had made no comments on the report and if the report is accurate then iPhone 5 will be available in this September.

The World’s No.1 Social Networking Service Facebook is launching video chat to its pages giving a tough competition to Google+.

On Wednesday the 6th July 2011 Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg announced this at company’s Palo Alto, California headquarters. He also stated that Facebook at present has hit the record of 750 million users and is expecting the new service will make the Facebook even more popular along with the raise of Skype.

Facebook by introducing its new feature is expecting its users to spend even more time with it and also gives a tough competition to Google+ and Twitter.

Facebook’s Skype service will be initially limited to one-to-one video chat.

Skype Chief Executive Tony Bates said ” Wednesday’s deal with Facebook is only the start of a potentially lucrative partnership. For us, this makes a lot of business sense, We get huge reach. In the future we’re talking about potentially Skype paid products available within the web format we saw here today.”

Facebook which is right now facing a competitive heat with Google+ also added an additional feature of group messaging which is limited to one-to-one at present.

Google+’s social networking features are said to be very similar to those of Facebook but it is said to introduce video conference which allows upto 10 people to participate. This made the deal between Facebook and Microsoft’s Skype.

“We think this is awesome because we’re using the best technology that’s out there for doing video chat with the best social infrastructure that’s out there to create some really cool new scenarios,” said Zuckerberg.
